Lemon Pomegranate Zinger

Tart and zingy, this lemon pomegranate zinger will get the holiday party started.

Tart, dry, and tasty. This is my take on a Gin Fizz for the holidays. It has all the lemony flavour with a hint of seasonal pomegranate.

I like to decorate all the drinks I serve over the holidays and these look so great with a few lemon slices and a load of pomegranate arils. Throw in a spring of fresh rosemary for a hint of herby aroma. Visually, the rosemary also mimics a branch from a conifer, which is oh so seasonal.

The best part of this drink is it can be made into a mocktail using alcohol-free gin, and swapping the pomegranate liquor for a syrup instead.

Ingredients

(Makes 4 servings)

  • 4 oz dry gin

  • 2 oz dry curaçao

  • 1 oz pomegranate liquor

  • 1 oz simple syrup (1 cup water + 2 cups granulated sugar, boil stirring until sugar is dissolved then cooled. Store in airtight contain in refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.)

  • 2 cups lemon flavoured soda water, cold

  • 1 cup fresh pomegranate arils

  • 1 lemon, sliced

  • ice

  • fresh rosemary sprigs to garnish (optional)

Directions

Into a large shaker with a few pieces of ice, add the gin, curaçao, pomegranate liquor, and simple syrup. Shake well.

Into each glass add 1/2 cup lemon flavoured soda water, 1/4 cup pomegranate arils, 2 lemon slices, and ice. From the shaker strain 2 oz of the alcohol and syrup mixture. Stir and (optional) garnish with fresh rosemary sprigs.
