Cacao Smoothie Bowl

A sweet cacao smoothie bowl is a delicious way to start any day.

When a sweet tooth and chocolate craving meet, this cacao smoothie bowl will certainly put those cravings to rest. The chocolate, banana, and nut butter, is an amazing combination while the cauliflower adds fibre and ensures the sweetness doesn't get out of hand.

This really should be considered an occasional treat as it does contain a significant amount of sugars, natural as they may be.

When blending, you decide how smooth or chunky you want your smoothie bowl to be.

Ingredients

(Makes 2 servings)

  • 1 large banana, frozen

  • 1/4 head cauliflower, chopped, cooked and frozen

  • 1/2 cup nut or soy milk

  • 1/4 cup all-natural nut butter

  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cacao powder

  • 1 teaspoon chia seeds (plus more to sprinkle on top - optional)

  • 1 teaspoon ground flaxseed meal

  • 1 teaspoon hemp hearts

  • pinch ground black pepper

  • 1 scoop protein powder (optional)

  • 1 tablespoon moringa powder or other nutrient powder (optional)

  • 1/2 large banana, sliced

  • 1/4 cup cacao nibs

Directions

Using a high-powered blender, add the frozen banana, and cauliflower, milk, nut butter, cacao powder, chia seeds, flaxseed meal, hemp hearts, and ground black pepper. Blend until the mixture is puréed and smooth. If adding protein powder or other nutrient powders, you might have to add a little additional milk+ to blend properly.

Pour the mixture into bowls and top with sliced banana, cacao nibs, and chia seeds (optional).
